In reply to Madeline DiDio. Thank you Madeline for your feedback. I have updated price to 2023. I do agree that ringneck snakes are difficult to get to eat in captivity. However, if you purchase from pet store, where they well trained from hatches, that makes things easier. My honest!

These snakes are NOT good for beginners as they are very difficult to get to eat, and can get stressed extremely easily. They also never breed in captivity, so unless someone has finally cracked the code, the one you are buying is wild caught. Also the babies cost $30-40, not $6. Adults pretty much always cost less, as they have less time with you until they die, and they’ve already been raised, sort of like adopting an adult dog from a shelter, but this dog has never seen a person before. As for food, it’s not as hard as described to get food for them, and you can just buy worms or crickets in bulk. Snakes cannot really “be trained” either. They can learn to tolerate people, but that’s about it.

And if your snake doesn’t eat when it’s feeding time, it’s not “to the vet!” because it is completely normal for a snake to miss a feeding and it is nothing to worry about; most snakes can go months at a time without eating. If they refuse to eat for a month straight, then you should take them to the vet. Anyway, back on topic; these snakes are not for beginners, and if you have never owned a snake before, do NOT get one of these.

Hi, my juvenile beardie stopped accepting crickets when the wrong size, too small, were given to her. I really think she couldn’t see them so possibly built some sort of resentment to me as maybe she may have thought that I refused to feed her? I’m not sure. Now after getting the half inch crickets, she ignores them. I wasn’t sure what to do so in addition to fresh greens I provide to her, I offered mealworms to her and she has been eating at most just two. Do you think that the 1/8” crickets could have caused her to reject crickets altogether?

Squirrels are absolutely gorgeously sweet, and cute! I purchase about 25lbs. month trail-mix for my beloved outdoor squirrels, for all the various family of squirrels. Heartfelt, as they frequently use both hands to point to their hearts when spoken to! Love squirrels forever!iLike to include freeze dried strawberries as a natural anti-biotic and banana for ease of digestion daily, with broccoli and avocado when my funds permit for sure! Variety is important, better to give our squirrels what we can in life. Excellent article! I have to include vegetables for these cute squirrels!

I just aquired a male jonesii and a trio of females which I hope to breed. Currently they are being housed all together in a 40 breeder that is 18″ x 24″ giving them 6 SQ. Ft floor space. There’s no signs of aggression noted so far although the male seems to hog the prime basking area and UVB light. I realize that breeding such a small colony, even if successful, will do very little to remove any pressure on wild population collection, but every little bit helps in my opinion. Perhaps I should consider holding back any offspring and try to maintain several breeding colonies. They seem to enjoy discoid roaches and are capable of handling even roaches a little too large than recommended in that their strong jaws are more than capable of cutting larger roaches in half making them manageable. In addition they are taking crickets and occasionally mealworms, and I’m trying to breed two additional smaller varieties of roach to vary their died more. My research into the nutritional composition of roaches has taught me that not all roaches have equivalent nutritional values, so a variety of roach species, especially of different genera, is helpful from providing a varied diet.

Duke passed away today he was over 100 years he outlived his sister daisy who passed a few years ago.
